Michel Soskine Inc. was founded in 1984 in New York (formerly named Claude Bernard Gallery, Ltd.) and specializes in contemporary art.  Over the years, many exhibitions were held at the former gallery space located at 33 East 74 Street (now part of the Whitney Museum). Today the current space is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. In 2005 an additional gallery space was inaugurated in Madrid, Spain.

Through gallery exhibitions and art fairs, Michel Soskine has introduced contemporary artists works both in the United States and in Europe.
The selection of artists has been a personal one, while also exihibiting  and offering XXth century masterworks such as Bacon, Dubuffet ,  Kupka , Giacometti, Miro, and Nevelson amongst others.

Based on this policy, Michel Soskine has also organized theme exhibitions such as Artist Self-Portraits, 7 Spanish Realists or 5 Latin American Artists as well as several noted Works on Paper exhibitions.

The gallery aims to offer artists works of the highest quality, through choices that do not preclude diversity. Therefore, we believe that the artwork should overcome the theoretical speech.
Over the years, the gallery has published catalogs with texts by noted authors such as: Umberto Eco, Leonora Carrington or James Lord.

The gallery has placed important works in several public collections such as the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Georges Pompidou Center, the Louisiana Museum, The Sainsbury Center for the Arts, The Getty Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, Fundación Telefonica, and others.
